When one thinks of Paris, in particularly of the image on postcards that come from the city, one inevitably pictures the 9th district. Better known as Opera, the 9th district offers a large number of shops to explore. It is one of the most popular spots for tourists, so much so that on Saturday afternoons it is difficult to walk around due to the crowds.
The district of La Défense is a business district located within the metropolis of Greater Paris. It is the largest European business district according to size. La Défense is located north-west of Paris in the department of Hauts-de-Seine. It covers several communes including Puteaux, Courbevoie, Nanterre and La Garenne-Colombes.The architecture of the district is mainly composed of tall buildings as La Défense was inspired by the business district of New York City and its large skyscrapers. There are many offices in the buildings, but there are also some apartments giving a mixture of both businesses and homes in the area.Although the district mainly attracts businessmen, the Metropolis of Greater Paris has made many changes within the neighborhood allowing it to become more touristy. La Défense is far from being the most popular with tourists, yet there are still many reasons to visit.
